2016: So Far You have Been Lovely

I can't help getting a little bit 'gushy' when it comes to trying to sum up this year so far.  2015 was a toughy and the start of this year was almost like a 'line in the sand' on many levels.  I have come to the conclusion that  positivity and optimism leads to good things, this year I have travelled up and down the UK (I have covered many miles), photographing some lovely people, beautiful weddings, in stunning locations;  I am blessed, I know this.

I've had some laughs, I have cried a little bit, made some new friends along the way and I have raised my game, I hope.  Pre shoots have got 'gigglier' and weddings have just become so much more relaxed and amazing!  I love how tradition (as lovely as it is) can be set aside for couples to stamp their own personalities on their day and I am thankful that my couples have been so enthusiastic about making some lovely memorable images with me.

So I am eleven weddings in to 2016, almost half way through and I am looking forward to meeting more incredible people during the second half.  I am slightly ashamed that I haven't got round to blogging my weddings yet (I will get there!) so I thought I would do a post that sums up some of the gorgeousness that 2016 has already sent my way.

A couple of weeks ago now, I  saw my fab friend Lucy (also a wedding photographer) marry her Steve at Tunnels Beaches in Ilfracombe, I loved being a guest at a wedding; they had the most incredible weather, with beautiful sea/beach views, speeches on the roof terrace and a first dance overlooking the beach as the sun was about to set. I cannot wait to see more of their sneak peeks from the inspiring Katherine Ashdown Photography. The last image was taken at my friends wedding.  Watching the sun set with a glass of wine in my one hand, my camera in the other and the love of my life by my side was certainly something I will never forget, it was a magical day.  Photographing a beach wedding is definitely on my bucket list!

I am more in love with this job than ever before, and it feels incredible to be there to witness so many amazing times in the lives of such lovely people, although I am also looking forward to a little bit of a rest this winter!  June, July, August and September.... Bring it on, I am so ready for you!

If you are planning your dream wedding in 2017 or 2018 somewhere in the UK, I would love to hear from you, you can contact me here

I'm setting myself the target in 2017 of shooting:  A beach wedding, a wedding somewhere in the beautiful Lake District and a themed wedding, if you are planning any of these things please come and tell me all about it!! Enjoy the rest of 2016, it'll be christmas before we know it!
