Stunning Winter Wedding at Packington Moor Barn in Staffordshire - Kathryn and Jordan
An Emotional Farewell - Packington Moor's Final Wedding
I first learned back in 2016 that Packington Moor would no longer be taking wedding bookings beyond 2017, due to a threat of closure. It wasn't long before this became more than a threat, it was a reality. I think I speak for all wedding suppliers that have had the pleasure of working at such a wonderful wedding venue, when I say this was truly devastating news.
The venue quite literally is on my doorstep and I had the been lucky enough to photograph 5 weddings there last year, but sadly, due to it being in the path of HS2 they have had to close their doors for good. Kathryn and Jordan's wedding would be the last ever wedding at Packington Moor.
Although it is devastating that such a beautiful venue and family business and home has been forced to close, Kathryn and Jordan's wedding was such a fabulous end, I was honoured to be there on their last day, I am glad I had the chance to say my own farewell.
One Location for the Entire Wedding Day
Kathryn and Jordan's wedding was in December, days before Christmas, a stunning barn location in rural Staffordshire, the whole day took place at one location, which was great, because having everything in one place meant simpler logistics and much more time for mingling and celebrating.
They chose Packington because they fell in love with it. I've loved shooting weddings at Packington because the light is just wonderful and the grounds are completely stunning.
The wedding itself was an intimate affair in the gorgeous Oat Barn at Packington. During the ceremony they had a beautiful reading. It was such a personal ceremony.
After the ceremony they had a chilled out and very relaxed drinks reception in the afternoon, and a very lively disco in the evening.
They decorated the venue with flowers and pine cones to compliment that it was a wintery wedding. For dinner they had a gourmet meal, which was loved by all the guests - Galloping Gourmet are the most fabulous caterers.
The first dance was a romantic slow dance, and they finished off the evening with a full dance floor.
The best bit about the day for me was how beautiful and perfect the weather was for the couple, because it was so bright and sunny, that it meant they could spend time having photographs within the venue's stunning grounds.
Family and Friend Referrals
Kathryn is related to one of my lovely past wedding couples so it was wonderful to see some familiar faces during the ceremony – it was lovely to see Kathryn's father walking her proudly down the aisle, just as he had done when he walked his niece Dianne down the aisle a few years before!
Elegant Wedding Style
Kathryn wore such a gorgeous classic wedding gown which she found at Brides of Solihull , and the bridesmaids wore elegant full length John Lewis dresses in green and they looked so gorgeous. The flowers, oh my goodness, were so beautiful - they were designed by Carrie Lucas Flowers. And despite the temperature dropping quite significantly after dark, Jordan and Kathryn braved the cold for some evening portraits.
I hope you enjoy having a look through Kathryn and Jordan's wedding images. I feel quite emotional looking at them knowing that on one hand it is the end of a era for Packington Moor, but an exciting new chapter for the bride and groom.
Farewell to a Truly Wonderful Barn Wedding Venue
I was honoured to take a photograph of the venue owners, The Barnes Family, with their very last wedding couple, I found this to be a very emotional moment of the day and I am not afraid to admit that a few tears were shed.
Staffordshire Barn Wedding Photographer
Kathryn and Jordan got in touch after Kathryn's Dad had recommended me from seeing photographs that I took at his niece's wedding. Their enquiry was really touching. They said they wanted a relaxed photographer, and I loved that they just really wanted me there. It was also nice to win dad over as he is a very keen photographer himself.
I would say that about 60 per cent of my wedding photography enquiries come from personal recommendations and word of mouth and it is so important to me that my clients receive the best customer service and images that they love to remind them of their wedding day.
I am looking forward to blogging the other weddings that I have photographed at this gorgeous Staffordshire wedding venue in the coming months. If you have enjoyed looking through my website and you would like to find our more about the wedding photography collections I offer, I would love to hear from you.
