Romantic Rustic Wedding At Aldwick Court Farm in Somerset – Debra and Nige

If you love beautiful florals then you’ll adore this stunning vineyard wedding!

Nothing beats seeing the happiest smile, on the face of one of your oldest school friends as she is about to marry her soul mate.

I’ve known Helen for many years and wouldn’t have wanted anyone else to take our wedding photographs...She listens to what you want as a ‘customer’ but it’s also personal it’s not like a regular business transaction. She puts her heart and soul into her work and you can see her passion for photography in every click of the camera. I have the added pleasure of being able to call Helen a friend ...The day wouldn’t have been the same without her and she has given us precious reminders of our special day that will last a lifetime...
— Debra and Nige / Aldwick Court Farm and Vineyard

Debra and Nige got married last May at the gorgeous Aldwick Court Farm, Somerset.  So as Prince Harry and Meghan are walking down the aisle and saying their I Do's at the Royal wedding this weekend, Debra and Nige will be celebrating 1 year married as husband and wife. I hope this blog post gives them a lovely reminder of what a perfect day they had.

It was an absolutely stunning wedding, with flowers all over the tables and beautiful DIY details everywhere, a  lot of thought had gone into the details of the day.

When I arrived I was met with the biggest hug from Debra and I believe her first tears of the day.  We hadn't seen each other in a while, but we go way back to when we were teenagers, over the years, as friends we have enjoyed times happy and sad, Debra is a friend I know I will always be able to count on.  Therefore  I considered myself very lucky to be able to photograph my beautiful friend's wedding day.

Getting Ready

Debra got ready in the cottage at Aldwick Court with her lovely Mum and Maid of Honour Ceri, and there was such a calm vibe as she quietly did her own make up and the bridesmaids drank coffee and chatted.  Debra wore the most stunning dress, she looked so beautiful.  Her Dad's face when he saw her was a picture and brought a tear to my eye.

She walked just a short distance from the cottage to get to the ceremony, all I remember is Nige staring up at the ceiling, moments before he saw Debra and I am sure it was a mixture of nerves and excitement that he was feeling in that moment.

The Vows

The wedding ceremony took place in a beautiful room in the barn. The ceremony area was decorated with flowers and candles, which was so perfect, because it complimented the rustic feel to the place.   The ceremony began with several beautiful readings from friends and family, and it was so personalised and a lovely ceremony.

I witnessed many excited hand squeezes and private smiles. Nige had a ring box handmade and the look on Debra's face when she saw it was totally priceless, she was speechless.

After the ceremony, the couple mingled with their guests for a while, had a few family pictures and then we went down to the fields for the portrait photos, which is such a great time for the newly married couple to have some time to let it sink in. I got some really special couples photos in the vineyards. The weather was glorious, it was the best day ever.

The Afternoon

Debra and Nige chose to have their wedding at Aldwick Court Farm because they loved the open space and the feeling of outside inside, and it has so many options.  Because the weather was particularly beautiful that day, the wedding party made the most of being outside.  Aldwick Court Farm is a stunning barn, and it’s got such a grand feel to it, especially in the evenings when the sun goes down, it is breathtakingly beautiful.

Everyone was  called in for food, which was a slap up meal. It was so yummy. They had speeches before the dinner, which were so emotional – and funny.

The Evening

After dinner, they had their first dance, and the dance floor was a very popular place to be. The DJ played all the best songs to get everyone dancing. The couple had planned lots of dancing and a candy bar for their guests, and everyone loved it.

The Bride and Groom say that if you’re planning your wedding, the biggest piece of advice they could give you is 'It’s your day. No one else matters. Make choices that make you happy and don’t worry about what others want or think. Take some time for just the two of you at some point in the day. It will all go so fast'.

I loved this beautiful vineyard wedding so much, it was such an honour to see my good friends get married, knowing that life is going to be a little adventure for them together form now on.
