Lichfield Newborn Photography: Meeting Margot Winter Rose

Just to prove that I don’t just photograph weddings! Today I photographed the loveliest little newborn baby girl, Margot. Here is just a sneak preview of today's shoot, her Mummy and Daddy braved the camera at a moment's notice and I feel so lucky and privileged to be able to capture such an amazing time for them, Isn't she lovely!

This particular time is tiring, beautiful, exhausting, miraculous, a learning curve, instinctive and precious. I am so glad I was able to photograph this wonderful family today; just as they start the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

After the birth of my son in 2012, I changed my approach to photographing families. Previously I had approached them in a more formal and posed way, which to be honest is just the way I thought it was supposed to be. When babies arrive you can find your once calm, serene and tidy life can be somewhat turned upside down and even though I would argue that the newborn stage is my favourite, I know for some the lack of sleep, the adapting to being responsible for an actual human, the changes to your body, can all play a part in how you may feel about being photographed. Like the house might not be tidy enough, you might not feel slim enough or awake enough. But reality is that what you are doing right now is perfect, it’s like this perfect bubble of newborn loveliness and it doesn’t matter if you haven’t had time to sort washing, or tidy up the house, because there is plenty of time for that, however these newborn cuddles, they don’t last forever, memories and photographs do.

So be brave, be fearless, let me capture you in your new roles as someone’s Mum or someone’s Dad.
