Elegant and Stylish Wedding At Upper House Hayfield
Beautiful Summer Courtyard Wedding
I was so excited to photograph Mel and Jon's June wedding at the exclusive wedding venue, Upper House Hayfield in High Peak Derbyshire last year. This intimate yet quite magnificent venue is set in the most beautiful surroundings of the National Trust's Kinder Estate and the views are just breathtaking. I love an intimate wedding venue that feels like it could be home, even if it is just for a day or two.
Mel and Jon made one simple request, they wanted their wedding day to be relaxed and fun, they didn't want to spend time away from their guests, they wanted to celebrate and party together, so they requested a candid approach to their wedding photography. This meant that for the majority of the day I was in the background documenting the day with very little interaction or posing, I have to say this is my favourite way to work, because you get to capture who people really are. This is the beauty of a documentary or photojournalistic approach to wedding photography.
One of the highlights of the day for me (and perhaps my 10 years of photographing weddings) was when Mel and Jon cut their wedding cake and had their first dance outside in the beautiful stone walled courtyard, under the lights and stars. It was just the perfect setting, emotional and fun. Mel worn a stunning gown designed by Novia D'art
Here are the images from their day, I am looking forward to photographing a wedding back at Upper House in July this year! A gorgeous wedding venue and very friendly and attentive staff/co-ordinators.
