Owen House Wedding Barn / Jonny Draper Wedding Photography Workshop

Wedding photography's constant evolution in tend and style means you need to stay fresh, relevant and current, knowing what today's couples want from their photographer. I decided that if there was one workshop I was going to sign up for in 2017 it would be one of Jonny Draper's Photography Training Workshops, I had been following his work for sometime now and had heard nothing but good things about his training days.

It just so happened that Jonny was hosting a workshop at the Owen House Wedding Barn at the end of March and as I will be shooting my first wedding there next year at the end of March, which I am slightly excited about! I thought this would be an excellent opportunity to check out the venue and spend the day being inspired by a group of incredible creatives. Wow, what a venue! I will look forward to being an Owen House Wedding barn Photographer this time next year!

I honestly don't know what I expected, but I didn't go with the intention of shooting loads of images, I was more interested business related discussions, but 5 minutes in the camera came out of the bag (who was I kidding anyway!) the models were amazing and the decor provided by The Word is Love and Red Floral Architecture & Luminate Events was to die for.

I came away from the workshop feeling refreshed, educated and inspired. I managed to set myself some business goals and have thought about where I want to take my business in 2017 & 2018 (watch this space it's very exciting) - I am approaching my 'ten year in business anniversary' and I was feeling like I needed to make some decisions, but when you are self employed and working on your own it is often quite difficult to set yourself business objectives, workshops give you a very necessary kick up the bum! 2017/2018 weddings I am totally ready for you and if you are planning your wedding for 2017-2019 then I would love to hear from you!

I would recommend Jonny's workshops to other photographers, especially if you feel you just need inspiration, I would say it is impossible to not be inspired! You will come away feeling like your business mind has had a mini MOT, just DO IT!!

Jonny will answer any questions you have, he takes a very open and honest approach which is refreshing and much less intimidating than I had imagined it would be, not at all in fact. Here are some of my images from the training day at Owen House Wedding Barn, I am glad I did take my little old camera in the end! I am so excited to be shooting a wedding at Owen House in 2018!
